About Goody Granola

Hi I'm Beth - I started Goody Granola because I couldn't find a granola in the supermarkets that was both delicious and nutritious. Everything on the shelves seemed to come loaded with ingredients that did us no good. The answer was staring me in the face: a version of my mum's homemade recipe, the one I'd been eating my whole life.

The name came from my son Luca, who was just eight years old when he suggested "Goody Granola." When it came time to trademark it, I was told a certain supermarket giant, Lidl, already owned the trademark and that there was no realistic way of getting it released. Being completely naive to how these things work, Luca and I decided to ask anyway. We wrote a rap pleading our case and I handwrote the lyrics into a letter addressed to Lidl's MD. I also asked customers to sign a petition in support. Against all odds, Lidl agreed and gave me the trademark.

Not long after, The Times ran a piece on my search for production help, a wonderfully kind gesture that opened doors I hadn't expected.

Every batch started life in my kitchen in Richmond and two of my three recipes are still made there today. My 72% Dark Chocolate & Goji Berry and my Vegan granola are baked in small batches by me, in my own oven, exactly as they always have been. My Nuts & Seeds recipe was the same story until that piece in The Times brought in more orders than my kitchen could keep up with. There simply weren't enough hours in the day, so that one is now made at a small artisan factory, though I still taste-check every single batch myself before it goes anywhere near a packet, because it’s delivered to my home on a pallet.

Two of my three recipes now hold Great Taste Award Gold Stars and I'm proud to say Goody Granola has only ever received 5 star customer reviews.

Since then, Goody Granola has found its way into some unexpected hands. Tony's Chocolonely's head office in Richmond now serves it to their colleagues at breakfast. The Springboks, while staying at The Lensbury last year, were packing packets of Goody Granola into their suitcases to take home. And the nutritionist behind England's Women's World Cup-winning rugby team, the Red Roses, is a genuine fan.

From a kitchen experiment born out of frustration with the cereal aisle, to a rap letter that won over a supermarket giant, to being packed in the suitcases of World Cup winners, it's been a journey I could never have scripted.

My goal now is to see Goody Granola sold worldwide. If you think you can help me get there, please get in touch.

Love Beth x
